Adrian Crabbs is a NYC based set designer who prefers a hands-on approach. Trained as a painter and sculpture at the School of Visual Arts, Adrian personally fabricates much of his work so that his sets are unique and richly imagined worlds.
Adrian honed his craft while working for the prominent Neo-minimalist 80’s artist Haim Steinbach, learning how to fabricate sculptural pieces, oversee large scale installations, as well as execute graphite drawings. Adrian also customized props that were outside the wheelhouse of set fabrication shops for a number of set designers. With his deep knowledge of contemporary art and fashion, Adrian is able to draw upon diverse materials to create the most distinctive context for each project.
Adrian’s personal career highlights to date include working with photographers such as Vivien Sassen, Juergen Teller, Nicholas Alan Cope, Fabian Öhrn, Anthony Cotsifas, Lena C. Emery, Ben Toms, Ben Pogue, Jack Webb, Steve Harries, Joss McKinley and Shirin Nesha.
Clients include La Mer, Bobbi Brown, Adidas, Bergdorf Goodman, Calvin Klein, Google and Clinique. Publications also include: AnOther Magazine, Pleasure Garden, Document, Office, Vogue Ukraine, L’Uomo Vogue, WSJ Magazine, and The New York Times Magazine.
