Kate Stein – Set Designer

KATE STEIN was born in Cairns, Australia and studied costume design, garment production and millinery at TAFE technical college before changing course and graduating with a degree at QUT in Brisbane, Australia. Following her studies, Kate relocated to NYC in 2012 to pursue her career. With a diverse background of skills, Kate worked for MTV shooting live music events and then transitioned into wardrobe styling for music videos and commercials. This on set experience led her to set design, which resonated with her practical fabrication skills and collaborative nature.

Kate brings an elevated sense of style to any production she works on, utilising her experience to deliver an original element to anything she works on. Her work explores the personal and the unconventional, balancing both with a sense of whimsy. Kate enjoys working within a range of creative concepts, varying from luxury to beachside or lifestyle imagery.

Kate’s client list includes Stuart Weitzman, Coach, Bacardi, Adidas, Ray-Ban, Heineken, Smirnoff, Lane Bryant, Maybelline, Neutrogena, Ford, Honda, Google, Bang & Olufsen, Verizon and Coca-Cola to name a few. She has collaborated with magazines such as Vogue, Dazed, i-D, WSJ, Oyster, Russh, Schon, Marie Claire, New York Magazine, Elle, Tidal and Refinery 29 amongst others.
